NIB relies mainly on the Exchequer for Recurrent and Development Grants to NIB through annual budget allocations. The Recurrent Grants are provided to meet Personnel Emoluments while Development Grants are geared towards the construction and rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage infrastructure and any other Civil Rehabilitation works. The Board also recovers in the form of Appropriations-in-Aid (AIA) from its clients (farmers) the cost incurred towards operations and maintenance of its Irrigation and drainage infrastructure and the Scheme’s road network.
